Reviewer Rating: * * * * Conner Brennigan is a journalist whose life is in danger. He is about to send a story to print that would uncover a huge drug cartel. Marleen Avoni is the cop assigned to protect him. Sparks fly between the old lovers from their first meeting. Conner couldn't cope with her being a cop when they were lovers three years ago. Despite loving her, or perhaps because of it, he can't come to terms with her chosen lifestyle, the constant threat of danger she lives under. Drawn back together by his meddling teenage daughter they rekindle old desires on an island getaway. But the danger that stalks him is everywhere, there is no escape. Marleen never quite trusts Conner, but can't resist him. He comes to realize he must learn to live with her profession or say goodbye again. Ms Estep is a talented writer who knows her genre well, gives us enough romance to satisfy readers who like their stories sexy, while adding a good share of adventure, drama, and excitement to satisfy ardent suspense addicts too. She keeps her story moving at a fast pace right to the end where she ties up all loose ends to our satisfaction. Copyright © 2000 by Tricia McGill |
